Ottoville crowns royalty during 62nd Park Carnival

OTTOVILLE — During the opening ceremony for this year’s Ottoville Park Carnival, Jeff Averesch, member of the Park Carnival Committee, announced that with the help of a grant the village is adding over $134,000 worth of new playground equipment at the Ottoville Park this coming year.

WILLIAM G. BROADDUS

William G. Broaddus, age 85, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, August 28, 2024. He was born April 20, 1939, to William E. and Margaret B. (nee Mulbarger) Broaddus in Union City, Indiana. Bill served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. His career consisted of sales in the Medical Equipment industry and retired from Energy sales. He was a very involved member of the Brunswick United Methodist Church and enjoyed being a Sunday morning greeter. Bill was a long-time member of the American Legion Post 234 in Brunswick. He was an avid golfer and a lifelong Indians/Guardians fan, always having a great sense of humor. Above all, Bill loved spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren. He will be missed by all who knew him. Left to celebrate Bill’s life are his beloved wife of 58 years, Mary Jane; his loving children, Derek (Debbie) Broaddus, Deanna (Tom) Hutchison, and David (Bridget) Broaddus; his adoring grandchildren, Abby, Cameron and Brenden; his sister, Dian (Jack) Staup; and many extended family and friends. Bill is preceded in death by his brother, Brian Broaddus. The family will welcome visitors from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at Waite Funeral Home located at 3300 Center Road in Brunswick. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, September 4th, with 1-hour prior visitation starting at 9:00 am at Brunswick United Methodist Church, 1395 Pearl Road. Following the service, Bill will be laid to rest at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Bill’s honor to Thomas P. End of season sales begin week of Sept. 3

DELPHOS — Oh my goodness, how can school have started already? It was just Memorial Day, and we were waiting for the pool to officially open! College and high school football has started now, and the leaves, corn and soybeans have started to turn. I guess that means fall and winter are near. For me, I’m going to make the most of these hot days and enjoy a few more dips in my pool.
