DELPHOS — Delphos Jefferson High School’s 148th Commencement will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday in the Jefferson Middle School Auditorium. There are 72 members in the Class of 2023.
Kristen Illig and Jessa Rostorfer will address the assembly on behalf of the Class of 2023. The student welcome and invocation will be led by Lillian Baughn and Chelsea Spaugy. The student prayer will be delivered by Macy Poling.
Shelly Kroeger will deliver the invocation and benediction. Commencement music will be provided by the Commencement Band, under the direction of Cameron Reed and by the Senior Vocal Ensemble, under the direction of Tammy Wirth.
The Award of Distinction will be presented to the following students: Kristen Illig, MaKya Miller, Levi Rode, Jessa Rostorfer, Rachel Ryan, Chelsea Spaugy and Gwen Teman.
Illig is the daughter of Dave and Erika Illig. She was active in the National Honor Society (director of publicity and social media), Student Council, Senior Executive Committee, FCA and volleyball (NWC Gold Scholar Athlete). She participates in competition dance. She is a member of Landeck St. John the Baptist Catholic Church where she is a Sunday school teacher and projector technician. She volunteers her time with the Delphos Athletic Boosters. She plans to attend the University of Cincinnati, majoring in nursing.
Miller is the daughter of Travis and Pamela Miller. She was active in the National Technical Honors Society, Skills USA, Interact Club, Student Ambassadors and soccer. She volunteers her time at the Humane Society. She plans to attend The Ohio State University, majoring in architecture.
Rode is the son of Jim and Andrea Rode. He was active in National Honor Society, Student Council, PBIS Team and basketball (captain and earning 4yr varsity award). He volunteers his time with the Delphian Social Club. He plans to attend the University of Cincinnati, majoring in nursing.
Rostorfer is the daughter of Brad and Kathy Rostorfer. She was active in National Honor Society (president), Student Council, Senior Executive Committee, Spanish Club, FCA, volleyball (2nd Team all NWC, holds school record for most digs per season/career high digs over 1000), basketball and softball (Honorable Mention all NWC). She is a member of Landeck St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, where she is a Mass server. She plans to attend the University of Cincinnati, majoring in nursing.
Ryan is the daughter of Megan Ryan and Randall Ryan Jr. She was active in the National Honor Society (vice president), Senior Executive Committee, marching band, band (treasurer and large group band contest), show choir, choir (treasurer, district 3 honors choir, solo and ensemble contest), golf (Christie Award and NWC Champion Award), wrestling statistician, PAWS school volunteer, school musical and College Credit Plus. She is active with the Girl Scouts and volunteers her time with Delphos Community Christmas Project, Rise Against Hunger, Canal Days cleanup and the Humane Society. She owns a self-run business – “Bee Yourself”. She plans to attend The Ohio State University, Lima Campus, majoring in zoology.
Spaugy is the daughter of Melissa Sanchez and Michael Spaugy. She was active in National Honor Society, Senior Executive Committee (vice president), Wildcat Warriors (treasurer), FCCLA (public relations) and track. She received top student awards in Honors English 10, 11 and Creative Writing. She is a lifeguard for the YMCA. She plans to attend The Ohio State University, majoring in international studies with a minor in journalism.
Teman is the daughter of Gary and Stephanie Teman. She was active in National Honor Society, Student Council, Senior Executive Committee, Spanish Club, volleyball (Honorable Mention all NWC), basketball and track. She participates in dance with The Dancer by Gina and is a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She plans to attend the University of Cincinnati’s Blue Ash College, majoring in veterinary technology.
Seniors graduating with the Award of Honor are: Emma Dailey, Kylee Dienstberger, Emma Kill, Andrew Miller, Elyse North, Serenity Sites and Trent Teman.
Seniors graduating with an Honors Diploma determined by the Ohio Department of Education are: Lillian Baughn, Julian Calvelage, Kristen Illig, Emma Kill, Chloe Kroeger, Andrew Miller, Elyse North, Macy Poling, Levi Rode, Jessa Rostorfer, Colin Schaffner, Payton Shade, Chelsea Spaugy, Gwen Teman, Trent Teman and Hannah Wiltsie.
The Senior Class Executive Committee members include: Lillian Baughn (president), Chelsea Spaugy (vice president), Kristen Illig, Emma Kill, Andrew Miller, Elyse North, Macy Poling, Jessa Rostorfer, Rachel Ryan, Gwen Teman and Trent Teman.
The class color is peach, the class flower is the ranunculus, the class song is “Try Everything” by Shakira and the class motto is “Today we follow, tomorrow we lead.”
