In May of 1968, a few months after the Warrior 11 event, Kenneth Bendele’s active duty had come to an end, and Virgil Dreffs presented this dollar bill with signatures from the whole company to take with him. The dollar itself was considered contraband at the Soc Trang compound, but Virgil still had it since he was a new arrival. Kenny has it in his wallet to this day, his “lucky charm,” and plans to pass it down to his children who will then put it in a picture frame as a family keepsake. (CherryRoad Media/Patrick Blasius)
