DELPHOS — Michael L. ‘Mick’ Schaffner, age 70, of Delphos, passed away Saturday morning at his residence in Delphos surrounded by his loving family.
He was born July 16, 1954 in Lima to Paul L. and Jean (Granger) Schaffner and the preceded him in death. On March 9, 1974 he married Karen (Diltz) Schaffner and she survives in Delphos.
Mick is survived by his children; Scott (Karen) Schaffner of Delphos and Rachel Pence of Urbana. He is survived by his grandchildren; Gabrielle Pence, Logan Pence, and Zachariah Pence, Colin Schaffner and Ava Schaffner, two great grandchildren; Roland and Juniper Harringer. Mick is also survived by his siblings; Jim (Ann) Schaffner and Janet Burklo both of Delphos, Marilyn (Jim) Robinson and Sue Warnecke both of Columbus. He is survived by many brothers and sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.
Mick was a Delphos St. John graduate. He went to work for Tecumseh Box and worked there for 47 years, retiring in 2018. He was a member of the Delphos Eagles, the American Legion, and the V.F.W. He loved Sci-Fi movies, music, having played drums in numerous bands over the years.
Visitation for Mick will be on Tuesday, June 24, from 2-6 p.m. at Weber Funeral Home, Delphos. A funeral service will begin at 6 p.m. following his visitation. His brother-in-law Jim Robinson officiating.
