MARGARET F. FISCHER

Margaret F. Fischer, age, 93 of Delphos, passed away Saturday, November 9, 2024, at VanCrest of Delphos. She was born March 12, 1931, in Delphos to the late Joseph and Rosa (Carder) Friedrich. On August 4, 1956, she married Ralph Fischer in St. John Church, Delphos. He preceded her in death on June 4, 1992.

Margaret is survived by four sons, Joseph Fischer of Columbus, Anthony (Donna) Fischer of Columbus, IN, Mark (Debra) Fischer of Delphos and Bernard (Jenny) Fischer of Richardson, Texas; ten grandchildren, Aaron (Miranda) Fischer, Melissa (Joel) Philippsen, Scott (Rachel) Fischer, Bethany (Kenneth) Gross, Devon (Megan) Fischer, Michelle (Jeff) Chapin, Carl Fischer, Brandon (Leeannda) Fischer, Ryan (Laura) Fischer and Derek (Kayla) Fischer; sixteen great-grandchildren, Olivia and Ava Fischer, Everett, Abe, and Eden Philippsen, Sunny, Juniper, Marigold, Forrest, and Cedar Chapin, Aurora Gross, Aubree, Zander, River, Lily, and Creek Fischer. She is also survived by a brother, Edward Friedrich of Delphos. She was also preceded in death by her daughter-inlaw Sheri Fischer, her sisters; an infant Geraldine Friedrich, Sister Mary Carl Joseph, S.N.D, Marilyn Hemker, and her brother, Hilary Friedrich. Margaret graduated from Delphos St. John’s High School in 1949 and from Mary Manse College, Toledo, in 1953. She began her teaching career at Blume High School in Wapakoneta. She also taught at Delphos Jefferson High School but spent most of her years at Delphos St. John’s School. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.

She was also a long-time member of the former Catholic Daughters of America and held offices in the C.D. of A. and the former Altar-Rosary Society. Margaret was an active member of the Centennial Celebration for the current St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, the St. John’s Parish Sesquicentennial Committee, the Beautification and Preservation Committee, RCIA, Parish Council, Foundation Committee and Liturgy Committee. She enjoyed conducting many tours of the parish church after its restoration. She was inducted into the Delphos St Johns Hall of Fame in 2018.

She considered it an honor to have served on the Board of Trustees of the Delphos Public Library for 32 years, 22 years as President. She also served on the Allen County Soil and Water Conservation Board for ten years. A Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 15, 2024, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2- 8 p.m. on Thursday, November 14, 2024, where a Parish Wake Service will be held at 7:45 p.m. at Weber Funeral Home, 1840 E. Fifth St., Delphos. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. John’s Parish Foundation, the St. John’s Teacher Endowment Fund, or the Delphos Public Library.
