DEFIANCE — Janet L. Richardson, age 80 of Defiance, peacefully passed away surrounded by her family on Sunday, Dec. 15, 2024, at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.
She was born on Nov. 5, 1944 to the late Charles and Mary (Pavel) Burnett in Delphos. Janet attended Delphos St. John’s High School. On Feb. 27, 1999, she married Rick Richardson, who survives.
Janet was a member of the Eagles in Delphos. She worked for over 12 years as a hostess at Bob Evans. Janet was a very generous donor to various organizations for animals and for those in need. She was very social and extremely outgoing. She loved to surround herself with friends and family and she loved children, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed movies and TV, dancing, shopping, and motorcycle riding.
Janet is survived by her loving husband Rick Richardson of Defiance; her son, Larry (Mary) Keeling of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; daughter, Marilee (Bill) German of Delphos; stepsons Shaun (Megan Taylor) Richardson of Delphos and Eric Richardson of Illinois. She was the proud grandmother of five grandchildren: Damon (Emily) Coil and Derrick (Amanda) Coil of Delphos, Katie Meyer and Randy (Morgana Hall) Keeling of Ft. Wayne and Toby (Amy) Keeling of New Haven, Indiana; step-granddaughter Chloe Richardson of Oregon; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; two sisters-in-law Jeanette Burnett of Delphos, Becky Richardson of Delphos; and brothers-in-law Carl (Ellie) Richardson and Mike Richardson. Janet will be sadly leaving behind her canine friend “Bear” whom she simply loved with all her heart.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother James Burnett, her sister Joyce Allen, and brothers-in-law, James (Janice) Richardson and Paul (Becky) Richardson.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, Dec. 19, 2024, from 2-8 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home South, Lawson/Roessner Chapel (1753 S. Clinton Street) in Defiance. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 am on Friday, Dec. 20 at the funeral home, with Celebrant Deb Miller officiating.
