Duane graduated in 1971 from Delphos Jefferson, having enjoyed playing football and basketball. Duane enjoyed golf, fishing, boating, racing, and spending time with friends. He was a jack of all trades with broad knowledge and expertise who was able to fix anything. Duane could talk to anyone about any subject, especially cars and motors. He loved to share his knowledge of motors and teach others.
Duane had many successful and fun years of racing, winning multiple National races. When it came to motors, he was a perfectionist. He was in the process of building another race car, which unfortunately he was not able to complete due to his illness.
Duane was an early riser and enjoyed watching sunrises, listening to and watching the birds and nature in his backyard. He loved sitting under the “magic tree” in his front yard. All of his dogs over the years were very spoiled & special to him. His Grandchildren were his pride and joy. He had a full, successful career in the automotive field.
After retiring and moving back to his hometown, Duane became a member of the Delphos Eagles Aerie #471.
