DELPHOS — The Jefferson Lady ‘Cats (2-2) faced offensive struggles in a 38-28 loss to Spencerville Thursday night in Northwest Conference (NWC) action. After an encouraging start, Jefferson’s offense stalled in the second half, allowing Spencerville to rally and take control for the victory.
MILLER CITY — Miller City (3-1) made a powerful statement in their Putnam County League (PCL) opener Thursday night, cruising to a 55-16 victory over visiting Fort Jennings (2-2) at Miller City High School.

COLLEGE PARK — Ohio State sophomore guard Devin Royal scored 18 points and grabbed nine rebounds to pace the Buckeyes in a 83-59 setback against Maryland in College Park on Wednesday.
VAN WERT — The St. John’s Blue Jays had just 11 days to get ready for their season opener on Tuesday when they took on the young Van Wert Cougars. The Cougars gave everything they had but a late free throw helped the Blue Jays prevail 74-73 in a high scoring affair.
OTTOVILLE — The Lady Green forced 34 turnovers in routing Fort Jennings 50-18 in non-conference girls basketball activity Tuesday night at L.W. Heckman Gymnasium.
