DELPHOS — The Lima Central Catholic defense bent but only broke once in leading the Thunderbirds to a 28-7 non-league victory over host St. John’s on a pleasant Saturday afternoon on the turf of Champions Field at Stadium Park.

COLUMBUS GROVE — A large field of area schools gathered Saturday morning at Columbus Grove for the annual Grove Invitational, and local runners turned in several standout performances across both the boys’ and girls’ divisions.

DELPHOS — After a tough season-opening loss on the road, the Jefferson Wildcats (1-1) bounced back Friday night at Champions Field, claiming a 26-14 victory over the Parkway Panthers (1-1) in non-conference play.


OTTOVILLE — The Ottoville Lady Green (6-3) kicked off Putnam County League (PCL) play Friday evening with a statement win, sweeping the previously unbeaten Kalida Ladycats (4-1) in three sets at L.W. Heckman Gymnasium.


KALIDA — The Kalida Wildcats (5-0-1) opened Putnam County League (PCL) play Thursday night with a 2-0 win over the Fort Jennings Musketeers (1-2) at home, but the Musketeers showed plenty of effort and fight throughout the contest.

DELPHOS — The St. John’s Lady Jays (1-4) fell to the Minster Lady ‘Cats (2-3) in a Midwest Athletic Conference (MAC) showdown Thursday evening at Robert A. Arnzen Gymnasium, dropping a 25-17, 25-17, 25-15 three-set sweep.
