ROSEMARIE CROSS SLOAN

Rosemarie Cross Sloan 70, of Klamath Falls Oregon, formerly of Delphos, went to be with the Lord Aug. 21, 2024. She was born Aug. 8, 1954, to Wilner L. Dease and Raymond Cross Sr., who both preceded her in death. Rose is survived by her loving family, including brothers, Ray (Judy) Cross of Delphos and Tim (Kim) Cross of Fort Jennings; a son, Jason Sloan and dogs Tootsie and Pearl of Klamath Falls; daughters, Jenelle Sloan of Rockford and Angie Kennedy of Van Wert; and sons-in-law, Gregory Jones and Joseph Kennedy of Van Wert. Rose also had three beautiful grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Randy, Hannah and Aliyah. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Chucky, Randy and Mark Cross; and one infant daughter. Services will be held at a later date.

James B. Vanmeter, 52, of Lima, passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at his residence. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at Harter & Schier Funeral Home. ROBERT J. MASON

Robert “Rob” J. Mason, 55, of Landeck, passed away Thursday, August 15, 2024, at his residence. He was born in Lima, OH, on December 16, 1968, to Roger and Joan (Knebel) Mason. His father preceded him in death and his mother survives in Landeck. Rob is also survived by a daughter, Nichole Mason of Grove City; son, Craig Mason of Pataskala; brothers, Chris Mason, Terry Knebel, and Jeff (Connie) Knebel; sister, Lisa Jewel; and grandson, Mason Boggs Rob was preceded in death by an infant son, Nicholas Mason. Rob was a big football fan, rooting for the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He liked to fish, work with his hands, and could fix anything. Rob enjoyed sitting around a campfire and tending to his garden. A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Landeck, OH at 2:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bridgeway Academy and Therapy Center 1350 Alum Creek Drive, Columbus, OH 43209

DONALD “DON” MOREO

Donald “Don” Moreo, 63, passed away Sunday, July 28, 2024, at Mercy Health-St. Rita’s. He was born January 13, 1961, in Lima, OH, to Jimmy Lee and Ruth (Matson) Moreo. They both preceded him in death. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Clarice Moreo, who preceded him in death. Don is survived by his nieces and nephews, Chris (Geoff) Yenser of Defiance, Carie (Adam) Martz of Delphos, Jesse Stratton of Toledo, Lyndsey (Sandal) Badger of Bowling Green, and Jamie (Daniel) Nienberg of Cloverdale; two great-nephews, Drew, and AJ Martz; a great-niece, Kaylee Martz; two brothers, Terry (Phyllis) Moreo, and Dave (Ann) Moreo both of Delphos; and a sister, Pam (Dave) Rowland of Delphos. After graduating from Delphos Jefferson High School in 1979, Don entered the Fire Academy. He was a retired firefighter for the Delphos Fire Department for over 20 years. Don had a great sense of humor and didn’t know a stranger. He loved Michigan and enjoyed visiting the plethora of friends he had anywhere and everywhere he went, from Delphos all the way to South Carolina. Don could be seen rooting on his great niece and nephews at their sporting events, as well as, at any of his local hotspots like the Topp Chalet and The Rustic. He truly enjoyed life, spending time with all of his family and friends. Private services will be held at a later date.

DONALD J. ”DOC” MEYER

FORT JENNINGS Donald J. ‘Doc’ Meyer, age 80, of Fort Jennings, passed away Saturday, August 10, 2024, at his residence. He was born October 11, 1943, in Fort Jennings to the late Herman and Marie (Wieging) Meyer. On April 12, 1969, he married Kay F. (Schimmoeller) Meyer, who survives in Ft. Jennings.

JANET V. HIETT

Janet V. Hiett, 90, of rural Spencerville, went to heaven Tuesday evening, August 6, 2024, at Mercy Health St. Rita’s with her loving family at her side. She was born January 1, 1934, in Delphos to the late Aloysius and Laura (Laudick) Kaverman. On February 15, 1958, she married Thomas R. Hiett who preceded her in death on August 19, 2016. Janet is survived by five children, Kathy (Ron) Leffel of Spencerville, Mike (Cindy) Hiett of Venedocia, Joyce (Phil) Kortokrax of Findlay, Sue (Leo) Beining of Landeck and Kim Hiett (Sam Fittante, deceased) of Findlay; five grandchildren, Amber (Adam) Cozad, Chad (Clarissa) Leffel, Jay (Sara) Hiett, Staci (Scott) Kill and Rachel (Kyle) Berelsman; nine great-grandchildren, Gwendalyn, Ruger and Vivi Lynn Cozad, Cash, Cain and Carter Leffel, Halle and Luke Kill and Letty Hiett; a sister, Alene Klausing of Delphos; and a sister-in-law, Rosie (Don) Keller of Wapakoneta. She was preceded in death by her siblings and in-laws, Betty (Leonard) Beckmann, Alice (Norman) Knippen, Margaret (Paul) Pohlman, Dorothy (Robert) Heitz, Eugene (Esther) Kaverman, Louis (Martha) Kaverman, Richard Klausing, Ruth (Ed) Utrup and Donald Luersman. Janet was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Landeck and a 1952 graduate of Delphos St. John’s High School. She was a homemaker and a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and greatgrandmother.
