MARGARET ANN ASHBY

DELPHOS –  Margaret Ann Ashby, 83, of Delphos, passed away Saturday, Feb. 15, 2025 in Mercy Health St. Rita’s after a brief illness, surrounded by her family.

She was born April 20, 1941, in Delphos to Edward C. and Elizabeth P. (Klima) Wrasman, who both preceded her in death. On Nov.22, 1962, she married H. Charles ‘Charlie’ Ashby at St. John’s Church, Delphos.

She is survived by her husband, Charlie of Delphos; sons, Dave (Jan) Ashby of Van Wert, and Steve Ashby of Delphos; grandchildren, Kurtis (Tim) Ashby-Thomas of Euclid, Sabryna (Chase) Mikaelson of Toledo, Brooks (Kennedy) Elder of Bowling Green, Mackenzie Elder of Convoy, and Tori Beebe of Van Wert; and great-grandchildren, Lily Elder, Iyla Elder and Ophelia Elder. She is also survived by her sisters, Irma Buettner of Delphos, Sr. Mary Gail of Leipsic, and Jane (Ron) Goergens of Delphos; sisters-in-law, Barb Wrasman of Delphos, Margie Dietering of Dayton, Ruthann (Joe) Rupert of Delphos, and Alice Krouse of Delphos; and many nieces and nephews. Last but not least, her adopted family, Tom ‘Bear’, Kim, Katie and Jared Honigford, and her dearest friend, Ruth Ann Wittler, all of Delphos.

Marg was also preceded in death by two daughters, Mary Elizabeth and Susan Marie, who died in child birth; grandchildren, Andrew Elder and Logan Elder; brothers, Gene (Ann) Wrasman, Ralph (Mary) Wrasman, Richard Wrasman, Mel (Ruth) Wrasman; sisters, Mary (Bill) Browning, Alice (Gene) Rayman; and in-laws, Harold and Clara Ashby, Gene (Mary) Ashby, Herman Dietering, Rosie (Bill) Kohorst, Tom Buettner and Jerry Krouse.

She was a graduate of St. John’s High School and attended Mary Manse College in Toledo. She was a fifth grade teacher at St. John’s Grade School and later was a substitute teacher there. She also worked for Martenson Publishing in Findlay and The Delphos Herald/Eagle Print, where she became production manager at Eagle Print.

In her earlier years she loved to play tennis, softball and was a high scorer in bowling. Later she was also a whiz at Trivial Pursuit and loved to gamble, especially in Las Vegas. Marg and Charlie enjoyed traveling to many states with good friends, Fred and Mary Ann Lisk, making sure to visit all the casinos along the way. Marg was famous for creating magazine covers on her computer for many people and their special occasions; and everyone’s birthday was celebrated with a special picture created for them on their social media.

A memorial mass will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 22 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. on Friday at Weber Funeral Home, Delphos, where a Parish Wake Service will be held at 7:45 p.m.
