OHSVCA Week 2 Poll
The Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association (OHSVCA) has released its second statewide poll of the season.

Matt’s Take – Bengals are 2-0, but… Turf Toe
At 2-0 to begin the season, typically you would find the city ecstatic, however that is not the case this season. Once again, Cincinnati will find themselves without Joe Burrow likely for 3 months due to a turf toe injury.

Buckeyes pull away from Ohio, 37-9
COLUMBUS — Ohio State scored 24 unanswered points in the second half to pull away from visiting Ohio on Saturday night, 37-9. The Buckeyes are now 3-0 on the season and will have a bye week next week before opening Big Ten play at Washington on Sept. 27.

Area runners shine at O-G’s Blue & Gold Invitational
OTTAWA — Ottawa-Glandorf welcomed some of the region’s top programs to Ottawa Memorial Park on Saturday morning for the 28th annual Blue & Gold Invitational, which featured 160 runners in both the boys and girls races.


Bluffton stays perfect with win over Jefferson
BLUFFTON — The Jefferson Wildcats (1-3) opened Northwest Conference (NWC) play on the road Friday night, but the Bluffton Pirates (4-0) proved too much to handle, pulling away for a 49-6 victory.

Marion Local extends streak to 68 with win over St. John’s
MARIA STEIN — The St. John’s Blue Jays (0-4) traveled to Maria Stein on Friday night to face the Marion Local Flyers (4-0) in a Midwest Athletic Conference (MAC) clash. Marion Local earned a 61-0 victory, marking their 68th straight win and 42nd consecutive MAC victory.

Defenses shine as Ottoville, Continental play to draw
CONTINENTAL — Two Putnam County League (PCL) boys soccer heavyweights locked horns on a gorgeous late-fall Friday night as Ottoville paid a visit to Continental. In the end, the Big Green rallied in the second 40 minutes to earn a 1-1 draw.
