Van Wert County Court for Aug. 22-28

VAN WERT — The following individuals appeared in Van Wert County Court of Common Pleas: Thursday, August 22, 2024 Change of Plea/Sentencing Kevin Davies, Jr., 34, Van Wert, changed his plea to guilty of non-support of dependents, F5. He was then sentenced to two years community control, to obtain employment within 60 days, 90 days jail to be suspended if employed within 60 days, 30 days jail at a later date per probation, random screens, mental health and substance abuse assessment and treatment, and ordered to pay court costs.

ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, N.J.— Unilever is recalling approximately 137,000 cases of Popsicle Jolly Rancher Frozen Confection Pop products (single serve offerings) because the products may contain milk, which is not listed as an ingredient on the label. Persons who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.

WILLIAM G. BROADDUS

William G. Broaddus, age 85, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, August 28, 2024. He was born April 20, 1939, to William E. and Margaret B. (nee Mulbarger) Broaddus in Union City, Indiana. Bill served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. His career consisted of sales in the Medical Equipment industry and retired from Energy sales. He was a very involved member of the Brunswick United Methodist Church and enjoyed being a Sunday morning greeter. Bill was a long-time member of the American Legion Post 234 in Brunswick. He was an avid golfer and a lifelong Indians/Guardians fan, always having a great sense of humor. Above all, Bill loved spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren. He will be missed by all who knew him. Left to celebrate Bill’s life are his beloved wife of 58 years, Mary Jane; his loving children, Derek (Debbie) Broaddus, Deanna (Tom) Hutchison, and David (Bridget) Broaddus; his adoring grandchildren, Abby, Cameron and Brenden; his sister, Dian (Jack) Staup; and many extended family and friends. Bill is preceded in death by his brother, Brian Broaddus. The family will welcome visitors from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at Waite Funeral Home located at 3300 Center Road in Brunswick. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, September 4th, with 1-hour prior visitation starting at 9:00 am at Brunswick United Methodist Church, 1395 Pearl Road. Following the service, Bill will be laid to rest at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Bill’s honor to Thomas P.
