DELPHOS — A Delphos man remains in custody this morning in the Allen County Jail after he went to the Delphos Police Department shortly after 6 p.m. Thursday and told officers he had shot his wife earlier in the day in a cornfield off Jones Road.

Police Chief Kyle Fittro said 43-year-old Patrick D. Coller told the officer on duty of the event and his officer called him onto station.

Fittro said he and his officer took Coller to the cornfield and found 42-year-old Gerri L. Coller dead of an apparent gunshot wound. They then contacted Allen County Sheriff’s Office since the incident had occurred in their jurisdiction and deputies responded to the scene.

Fittro said his department has responded to the Collar residence in the past for alleged domestic disputes.

Sheriff detectives are continuing the investigation.

Patrick Harvey, the grandson of Gertrude Kehres Ames, is looking to identify other family members in this photograph. Ames was born in 1907, her family lived in Monett until the 1920s and some of them later moved to Delphos. He is looking for information about his great-grandfather, Andrew Kehres, especially a photograph of him. He had one son and eight daughters. This photo is some of his great aunts and other family members to see if anyone can provide some more names to go with them. Starting in the front row at the left of the photograph he thinks are his great aunts Amelia and Clara; the two standing in the center are possibly aunts Antoinette and Leona; and Andrew Kehres might be the man with the beard second from the left in the last row. Andrew Kehres and Anna Miller were married in Ottoville. His great-uncle was Cyril and his other great-aunts were Josephine (Ward), Elizabeth, Regina “Gene” and Edith (Kaverman). (Submitted photo)
