Board finishing upgrades at park

FORT JENNINGS — Park Board Vice President Kari Amstutz reported to council the remodeling work inside the Recreation Center at the park is close to being complete. She said the flooring is finished and there are a few odds and ends to take care of.

She added the backstop at the ball diamond is complete and the remaining work — pouring concrete walkways — will be finished when the weather permits.

 
Volunteers brave the cold to work on canal towpath

Tuesday morning, a crew of six volunteers braved the cold weather and worked to reclaim the Canal towpath from Cleveland Street down toward St. John’s Annex. Members of the crew included: Dan Wilson and Scott Hoening, employees from the State of Ohio; Sam Bonifas, member of The Buckeye Trail Association; Lou Hohman and Steve Dorsten, president and vice president of the Delphos Canal Commission; and Ed Ulrich, trustee. Hohman said Andrew Kohorst, from Roger’s Rangers and Delphos resident John Martin, who helped coordinate the project, were on hand Monday to help with clearing trees from the towpath. Elida considers emergency levy on August ballot

ELIDA — Placing an emergency levy on the August Special Election Ballot was the topic of the evening at Tuesday’s Elida Board of Eduction meeting.

The district needs just over $2 million each year for the next five years.

 
Commissioners fire Paulding County EMA director

PAULDING – At a special meeting with EMA Director Randy Shaffer at the Paulding County Commissioners Office on Monday morning, the commissioners voted unanimously to dismiss Shaffer from his office immediately.

Commissioner Tony Zartman motioned that “because of opportunities given Shaffer to redeem himself and hadn’t and opportunities for him to be a team member in work with other entities, I move that we dismiss him as EMA director immediately.”

 
RODOC gets city school's bus service contract

DELPHOS — RODOC Sales Service and Leasing will continue to service the Delphos City Schools’ bus fleet.

School board members approved a 5-year contract with the local business during Monday’s meeting.
