At 7:46 p.m. Sunday, Delphos Police were called to the 700 block of South Main Street in reference to a theft complaint at a residence in that area.

Upon officers’ arrival, the victim stated that a person known to the victim had taken money from the victim without permission to do so.

At noon Saturday, police were called to the 800 block of East Third Street in reference to a theft complaint. Upon officers’ arrival, the victim stated that someone had taken personal items from inside the residence without permission to do so.

At 8:41 p.m. Thursday, police were called to Waterworks Park in reference to a fight at that location. Upon officers arrival, the victim stated that Rudy Nieto, 18, of Delphos had assaulted the victim when the victim arrived at the park to speak with Nieto. The victim stated that once assaulted, he walked away from Nieto and was leaving the park. The victim stated that Nieto again came from behind and assaulted him again, this time with an object in his hand to cause more injury to the victim. Nieto was taken into custody and transported to the Allen County Jail, Nieto will appear in Lima Municipal Court on the charge.

At 9:38 a.m. Thursday, police were called to the 12000 block of South Clay Street in reference to a theft complaint at a residence in that area. Upon officers’ arrival, the victim stated that someone had taken jewelry from the residence without permission to do so.

At 9:02 a.m. Thursday, officers located Bradley Kaverman, 28, of Delphos at a business in the 900 block of South Main Street. Officers arrested Kaverman on an active warrant issued out of Lima Municipal Court and the Delphos Police Department on the charge of receiving stolen property. Kaverman was transported to the Allen County Jail and will appear in Lima Municipal Court on the charge.

At 4:52 p.m. Wednesday, police were contacted by a business in the 1400 block of North Main Street in reference to a theft complaint at the business. Upon speaking with the business, it was found that someone had taken gasoline from the business without permission to do so.

At 12:17 p.m. Wednesday, police were called to the 800 block of South Clay Street in reference to a theft complaint at a residence in that area. Upon officers’ arrival, the victim stated that someone had taken scrap metal from behind the residence without permission to do so.

At 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, police were called to the 600 block of South Clay Street in reference to a theft complaint. Upon officers’ arrival, the victim stated that someone had taken items from the residence without permission to do so. The victim stated that a push mower and a metal fire ring was taken from outside of the residence.

At 4:26 a.m. Tuesday, police were called to the 200 block of Maple Street in reference to a theft from a motor vehicle complaint in that area. Upon officers’ arrival, the victim stated that someone had entered the unlocked vehicle and had taken money and electronic equipment from inside the vehicle.

At 7:44 p.m. Monday, police were called to the 200 block of East Cleveland Street in reference to a theft from a business in that area. Upon officers’ arrival, the business stated that someone had taken metal that was stored behind the business.

At 10:11 p.m. Sunday, police received a call in reference to a suspended driver driving in the city limits of Delphos. A short time later, officers located a vehicle matching the description of the vehicle and the driver, which was previously confirmed to having his driving privilege suspended. As a result, officers stopped the vehicle and located Richard Truesdale Jr., 46, of St. Marys, operating the motor vehicle. Truesdale was taken into custody and cited into Lima Municipal Court on the charge.

At 6:36 p.m. Sunday, police were called to the 300 block of North Jefferson Street in reference to a theft from a motor vehicle complaint. Upon officers’ arrival, the victim stated that someone had gained entry into the unlocked vehicle and had taken items from inside the vehicle.

A Delphos man was cited for failure to maintain control after his vehicle struck a parked mini-van on South Main Street reported at 7:10 p.m. Friday.

According to the police report, Lester Dancer, 83, of Delphos, was traveling southbound on South Main Street when he sideswiped a legally-parked mini-van owned by Lindsay Blankenship of Delphos on the west side of the road.

The Blankenship vehicle sustained minor damage and the Dancer vehicle sustained none.

 
Teen taken to hospital after accident PDF Print

A Delphos teen was taken to St. Rita’s Medical Center Saturday afternoon following a two-vehicle accident near the intersection of East Fifth Street and Carolyn Drive.

According to the Delphos Police report, the accident, called in at approximately 1:49 p.m., occurred when Marc Scirroco of Delphos, traveling eastbound in the inside lane of East fifth Street, failed see a vehicle driven by James McKowen of Delphos slowed in front of his vehicle preparing to turn left onto Carolyn Drive.

Scirocco struck the McKowen vehicle in the rear.

Corbin Betz, 16, of Delphos, a passenger in the Scirocco vehicle, was transported to St. Rita’s. His condition was not known at press time.

No citations were issued at the time of the crash.

At 11:54 p.m. Friday, Delphos Police and Fire Department were called to the 300 block of South Main Street in reference to a fire at the rear of a residence in that area. Upon officers’ arrival, they met with the homeowner who advised that a subject known to the resident had been at that location and an argument had occurred. Shortly after the argument, the subject went outside and returned several minutes later. Delphos Fire Department put the fire out. The case remains under investigation.

At 7:16 a.m. Thursday, Delphos Police were called to the 500 block of East Third Street in reference to a theft from a motor vehicle at a residence in that area. Upon officers’ arrival the victim stated that sometime in the overnight hours, someone entered the unlocked vehicle and removed electronic equipment from inside.

At 9:43 p.m. Tuesday, Delphos Police were called to the 300 block of South Main Street in reference to an attempted burglary at a residence in that area. Upon officers’ arrival, they located Timothy Short, 29, of Delphos, outside of the residence. The victim stated that Short had attempted to gain entry into the residence but was unable to. As a result of the officers’ investigation, Short was arrested, charged with criminal trespassing and was transported to the Allen County Jail. Short will appear in Lima Municipal Court on the charge.

At 4:33 p.m. Tuesday, Delphos Police were called to the 200 block of East Fifth Street in reference to a domestic violence complaint. Upon officers’ arrival, the victim stated that a family member had threatened harm to the victim and that the family member was on the way to that location to harm the victim. A short time later, the family member did arrive in the area, at which time officers stopped the subject for questioning. The victim did state that charges of domestic violence were wanted by the victim and the victim did sign paperwork to press charges on the family member. As a result, officers arrested Derrick Coil, 32, of Delphos, and transported him to the Allen County Jail. Coil will appear in Lima Municipal Court on the charge.

At 9:50 a.m. Monday, Delphos Police were contacted by a residence of the 400 block of South Clay Street in reference to a theft complaint from the residence. Upon speaking with the subject, it was found that someone had taken a snow blower from outside of the residence.

 
Buckland woman cited for lane change violation after crash PDF Print

A Buckland woman was cited for improper lane change following a two-vehicle accident in the 400 block of East Fifth Street reported at 1:46 p.m. Wednesday.

According to police reports, Mark Hummer, 55, of Delphos was traveling westbound in the outside lane of East Fifth when a vehicle driven by Catherine Lambert, 50, of Buckland, also traveling westbound in the inside lane, attempted to change lanes and struck the Hummer vehicle.

No injuries were reported.
