Driver cited for failure to maintain control PDF Print

A driver was cited for failure to maintain control after his vehicle struck a parked SUV.

A Delphos Police report indicates Robert Hempfling, 65, of Coldwater was traveling northbound in the 400 block of North Pierce Street when the passenger-side front of his car struck the rear driver’s side of a park SUV owned by Charles Kesler of Delphos.

No one was injured.

At 5:23 a.m. Tuesday, Delphos Police were called to the 500 block of South Jefferson Street in reference to a theft complaint at a residence in that area. Upon officers’ arrival, the victim stated that sometime in the overnight hours, someone had gained entry into the unlocked vehicle and had taken items from inside.

At 7:10 a.m. Tuesday, police were called to the 1400 block of South Clay Street in reference to a theft complaint at a residence in that area.

Upon officers’ arrival, the victim stated that sometime in the overnight hours, someone had gained entry into the unlocked vehicle and had taken items from inside.

At 7:15 a.m. Tuesday, while on routine patrol in the 900 block of South Main Street, police came into contact with Johnny Ray Foust, 51, at which time it was found that Foust had an active arrest warrant issued out of Paulding County for failing to appear in court.

Foust was taken into custody and was later turned over to Deputies from Paulding County.

At 5:17 p.m. Tuesday, Delphos Police were called to the 200 block of Holland Avenue in reference to a burglary complaint at a residence in that area.

Upon officers’ arrival, the victim stated that someone had gained entry into the residence and had taken electronics from inside the residence.

Delphos Police investigated a pair of private property accidents this weekend.

At 2:05 p.m Monday, officers were called to 816 1/2 Suthoff St. for a backing accident. According to the report, Amber Collins, 25, of Suthoff St., was backing from the driveway at 828 1/2 Suthoff St., failed to see a parked vehicle in the driveway at 816 1/2 Suthoff St. and struck it in the rear.

At noon Saturday, officers were called to 725 N. Bredeick St. According to owner Anthony Teman, he parked his vehicle in front of his Bredeick Street home on Friday. On Saturday, he noticed damage to the passenger side door and rear fender.

 
Motorcyle crash claims man's life PDF Print

Van Wert County Sheriff Thomas M. Riggenbach released information that deputies investigated a motorcycle accident in the early-morning hours on Saturday. Riggenbach said the Van Wert County Sheriff’s Office received a call advising a motorcycle had wrecked near the intersection of Slane and Hessian roads in Hoaglin Township. The driver of the motorcycle, Nicholas A. Mason, 18, of North Pole, Alaska, lost control of the motorcycle while traveling south on Slane Road.

Due to the extent of the injuries to Mason, Samaritan Helicopter was requested at the scene. Mason was transported by Samaritan to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind., and later pronounced dead at Parkview Hospital.

The Van Wert County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Grover Hill Fire and EMS, Van Wert EMS and the Ohio State Highway Patrol. No other details about the accident were released by the sheriff’s office.

Delphos Police are looking for the driver of a vehicle that struck a parked pickup truck in the 400 block of Suthoff Street.

The damage to the truck was reported on Tuesday.
