Drugs found in search of Ohio City residence PDF Print

OHIO CITY — Van Wert County Sheriff Thomas M. Riggenbach released Tuesday in a statement that the West Central Ohio Crime Task Force and the Allen County Sheriff’s Office Tactical Team executed a search warrant at 402 W. Jefferson St. in Ohio City.

The search warrant was obtained as a result of a drug investigation into activity at the residence. The search of the residence recovered the following items:

— a moderate amount of suspected LSD,

— a moderate amount of drug paraphernalia,

— a small quantity of suspected ecstasy and

— a small quantity of suspected marijuana.

Four people were found inside the residence when the warrant was executed. Two people residing in the home were arrested and taken to the Van Wert County Correctional Facility.

Jeremiah A. Miller, age 19, was arrested on one count of obstructing official business, a misdemeanor of the second degree.

Austin Campbell, age 18, was arrested on one count of possession of LSD, a felony of the third degree.

The other two people were released.

Riggenbach stated that the investigation is continuing and additional charges could be filed.

The West Central Ohio Crime Task Force is comprised of officers from the following agencies: Allen County Sheriff’s Office, Van Wert County Sheriff’s Office, Lima Police Department, Paulding County Sheriff’s Office and multiple State and Federal agencies. The task force operates within a multi-county area to combat drugs and major crimes.

At 12:27 p.m. Sunday, Delphos Police were contacted by a subject who stated that there were two male subjects in the area of East Second and North Franklin streets that he believed were breaking into vehicles parked in that area. Upon officers’ arrival, they located a subject matching the physical description of one of the subjects involved. Upon making contact, officers found the subject had several active arrest warrants and Dustin Kunz, 23, of Delphos, was taken into custody and later turned over to deputies from the Allen County Sheriff’s Department.

At 9:19 p.m. Saturday, Police received a call from a motorist who was advising they were behind a driver that appeared to be intoxicated and was a danger to other motorists. Upon officers’ arrival in the 1700 block of East Fifth Street, they located the vehicle and found Heather Zinn, 30, of Delphos, at which time it was learned that she was operating the vehicle while impaired and also while having her driving privileges suspended. As a result, Zinn was taken into custody by officers and transported to the Delphos Police Department for further investigation. Zinn was cited on the charges into Lima Municipal Court and was later released to a sober adult.

At 5:08 p.m. Monday, Delphos Police came into contact with Thomas Stocklin Jr., 56, of Delphos in the 300 block of West Second Street, at which time officers took Stocklin into custody on an outstanding arrest warrant issued out of Lima Municipal Court for a failure to appear charge on a prior case.

Stocklin was transported to the Allen County Jail and will appear in Lima Municipal Court on the charge.

At 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, while on routine patrol, Police came into contact with Bruce Haggard, 45, of Delphos. Officers found Haggard to be operating a motor vehicle while impaired.

Haggard was cited into Van Wert Municipal Court on the charge.

At 3:17 p.m. on Sunday, police were contacted by a business in the 900 block of Elida Avenue in reference to a theft complaint.

Upon officers’ arrival, the business owner stated someone had taken an air conditioner unit that was installed to the building.

At 2:59 p.m. on Sunday, police were contacted by a subject in reference to a domestic violence complaint that occurred in the 200 block of Holland Avenue.

Upon officers speaking with the victim, the victim signed to have charges filed on Adam Heckman, 30, of Delphos.

Officers went to Heckman’s residence and took him into custody and transported him to the Allen County Jail.

Heckman will appear in Lima Municipal Court on the charge.

At 5:02 p.m. on Saturday, police came into contact with Anthony Snyder, 23, of Delphos, at which time Snyder was taken into custody on a active arrest warrant issued out of Van Wert Municipal Court for a probation violation.

Upon searching Snyder, he was found to be in possession of a green leafy substance that tested positive for the presumptive presence of marijuana.

Snyder was cited for the possession of marijuana and transported to the Van Wert County Jail on the warrant. Snyder will appear in Van Wert Municipal Court on the warrant and the possession charge.

Driver hits parked vehicle, leaves PDF Print

A Lima man was cited for failure to maintain reasonable control after his vehicle struck a parked vehicle.

Charles Allenbaugh, 22, of Lima, was traveling southbound in the 400 block of South Main Street at approximately 6:45 p.m. Thursday when his vehicle struck a parked vehicle owned by Rachel Miller of Elida. According to the police report, Allenbaugh left the scene but was located by officers.

No one was injured.

Delphos Police investigate a two-vehicle crash reported at 3:40 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Clime and Clay streets.

Richard Joseph, 69, of Delphos was traveling eastbound on West Clime Street when his vehicle was struck by a northbound vehicle on Clay Street operated by June Sloan, 77, of Columbus Grove. Sloan had failed to stop at the posted stop sign at Clime and Clay.

Sloan was charged with failure to yield at a stop sign.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
