Driver flees scene of crash PDF Print

DELPHOS — A driver fled the scene of a crash at 6:32 p.m. July 2.

According to a witness, the driver turned onto North Canal Street from North Street and struck an unoccupied vehicle parked and owned by Maureen Flescher-Frisby of Delphos, facing southbound in the 1000 block of North Canal Street.

The driver then backed up, causing more damage to the parked vehicle, and then fled the scene.

The witness described the vehicle as a Cheverolet or GMC gray pickup truck with a black number 17 on the bumper.

Flescher-Frisby’s vehicle had moderate to heavy damage to its left rear and bumper.

On June 21, officers were called to a residence in the 500 block of South Franklin Street in reference to a possible disturbance. Upon arrival, officers met with a male and female in the residence who had been arguing. Officers found that both were highly intoxicated. The male was asked to leave the residence which he did. At approximately 2:51 a.m., officers observed the male, 42-year-old Tim Olmeda of Delphos, in the 100 block of North Main Street possibly being disorderly once again. Officers gave Olmeda a warning to proceed to his residence and to cease the disorderly behavior. At 3:13 a.m., officers were called back to the 500 block of South Franklin Street for another dispute. Upon arrival, officers found Olmeda creating a disturbance. He was then taken into custody and transported to the Allen County Jail on a charge of persistent disorderly conduct.

On June 14, the Delphos Police Department was made aware of an active warrant out of Van Wert County Municipal Court on 21-year-old Alex M. Hummer of Delphos for failure to appear on a charge in that court. Officers located Hummer in the 900 block of North Jefferson Street and took him into custody. Hummer was then transported to the Van Wert County Jail. While officers were in the residence with Hummer, an item of drug paraphernalia was found in plain view. A resident, 31-year-old Jordan A. Askins of Delphos, was found to be the owner of the item and was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. He was issued a summons to appear in Van Wert Municipal Court on the charge.

DELPHOS — A driver backed into another vehicle at 8:36 p.m. Saturday.

Denise Harruff, 38, of Lima was backing out of a parking spot when she backed into a vehicle parked in another parking spot. The vehicle, owned by Connie Horton of Delphos, was unoccupied at the time and had light damage.

The accident happened on private property.

 
Motorcyclist cited for failure to control PDF Print

DELPHOS — A motorcyclist was cited for failure to maintain control at 7:14 p.m. Saturday.

Jeremy Kohli, 20, of Fort Jennings was traveling eastbound on Third Street approaching the traffice signal on North Main Street. When entering the intersection, he lost control of the motorcycle and was ejected from it causing the motorcycle to drop and slide.

Kohli had non-incapacitating injuries. His motorcycle had functional damage to its left side.
