At 7:25 p.m. Nov. 26, officers were dispatched to the 400 block of North State Street in reference to a domestic violence complaint. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victim and found that the suspect had left the scene. After further investigation, probable cause was found to arrest the suspect, Travis VanDyke. At the time of the report, officers were unable to locate VanDyke therefore a warrant was issued for his arrest. On Friday, VanDyke was taken into custody and transported to the Van Wert County Jail without incident.

COLUMBUS - Provisional numbers released Monday by the Ohio State Highway Patrol show there were 13 people killed on Ohio’s roadways this Thanksgiving holiday, which is two below the four-year average. During the reporting period, which began at midnight Nov. 27 and ran through 11:59 p.m. Sunday, 13 people were killed in 11 crashes. This is an increase from last year, when 12 people were killed in nine fatal crashes

At 5:07 p.m. Tuesday, Delphos Police were called to the 200 block of East Cleveland Street in reference to a theft complaint at a residence in that area.

Upon officers’ arrival, the victim stated that someone had taken metal parts from the residence without permission to do so.

At 9:15 p.m. Nov. 11, police were called to the 200 block of King Street in reference to an ongoing situation at a residence in that area.

Upon officers’ arrival, they came into contact with Melissa CLosson, 46, of Delphos, at which time Closson failed to comply with officers several times. Closson was arrested for persistent disorderly conduct by intoxication and obstructing official business and transported to the Van Wert County Jail; she will appear in Van Wert Municipal Court on the charges.

At 2:35 p.m. Monday, Delphos Police were contacted by a business in the 100 block of South Main Street in reference to a theft complaint at the business.

Upon speaking with employees, it was found someone had removed scrap metal and other metal items from outside of the business without permission to do so.

 

At 12:33 p.m. Friday, police were contacted by a resident of the 1200 block of Rose Anna Avenue in reference to a theft from a motor vehicle complaint at a residence in that area.

Upon officers speaking with the victim, it was learned someone had gained entry into the unlocked vehicle and had taken items from inside.

 

At 7:22 p.m. Sunday, police went to a residence in the 600 block of South Main Street to serve an active arrest warrant on a subject in that area.

Upon officers' arrival, they located Anthony Snyder, 23, of Delphos, at which time they took Snyder into custody on the warrant issued out of Lima Municipal Court for failing to appear on a prior drug possession charge.

He was transported to the Allen County Jail.

 

 

 
Drugs found in search of Ohio City residence PDF Print

OHIO CITY — Van Wert County Sheriff Thomas M. Riggenbach released Tuesday in a statement that the West Central Ohio Crime Task Force and the Allen County Sheriff’s Office Tactical Team executed a search warrant at 402 W. Jefferson St. in Ohio City.

The search warrant was obtained as a result of a drug investigation into activity at the residence. The search of the residence recovered the following items:

— a moderate amount of suspected LSD,

— a moderate amount of drug paraphernalia,

— a small quantity of suspected ecstasy and

— a small quantity of suspected marijuana.

Four people were found inside the residence when the warrant was executed. Two people residing in the home were arrested and taken to the Van Wert County Correctional Facility.

Jeremiah A. Miller, age 19, was arrested on one count of obstructing official business, a misdemeanor of the second degree.

Austin Campbell, age 18, was arrested on one count of possession of LSD, a felony of the third degree.

The other two people were released.

Riggenbach stated that the investigation is continuing and additional charges could be filed.

The West Central Ohio Crime Task Force is comprised of officers from the following agencies: Allen County Sheriff’s Office, Van Wert County Sheriff’s Office, Lima Police Department, Paulding County Sheriff’s Office and multiple State and Federal agencies. The task force operates within a multi-county area to combat drugs and major crimes.
