Driver hits garage when brakes fail PDF Print

DELPHOS — A driver backed into a garage and said the brakes had failed on her vehicle.

At 8:15 a.m. March 27, Susan Houseworth, 44, of Delphos was backing out of her driveway when the brakes failed and the vehicle continued to travel until striking the neighbor’s garage.

No one was injured and the vehicle had light damage.

At 2:59 a.m. March 23, Delphos Police officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation. They made contact with the driver, 23-year-old Gabriel Klaus of Wapakoneta. During the investigation, officers found probable cause to arrest Klaus for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. Klaus was given a citation for OVI and the traffic violation. He will appear in Van Wert Municipal Court to face the charge.

DELPHOS — A driver backing out of a parking spot failed to see another car at 8:14 p.m. Friday.

Damion Banks, 17, of Delphos was backing out of a parking space at Stadium Park when he failed to see Jeffery Kemper, 43, of Delphos.

Kemper was traveling north through the park.

Banks’ vehicle hit Kemper’s in the left side back door.

Both vehicles received light damage.

 
Driver makes wide turn, hits car in right lane PDF Print

DELPHOS — A driver made a wide turn and hit a car in the right lane of a two-lane road at 5:43 p.m. Monday.

Tod Scheer, 38, of Delphos was attempting to turn left onto westbound East Suthoff Street from a driveway. In doing so, Scheer pulled into the path of Mark Elling, 53, of Spencerville, who was traveling westbound on East Suthoff Street in the right lane.

Scheer’s vehicle struck Elling’s, causing minor damage to both vehicles. No injuries were reported.

 
Two-car accident occurs in high school parking lot PDF Print

DELPHOS — Two students were involved in a two-vehicle accident Monday while exiting Jefferson High School parking lot.

Chase Getz, 17, of Delphos was leaving the high school parking lot at 3:05 p.m. when he began to merge into the right turn lane and failed to see a vehicle driven by Kiara Brinkman, 18, of Delphos. Brinkman was in the right turn lane and was coming up beside Getz’s vehicle. Getz’s vehicle struck Brinkman’s car, which then hit a snow drift.
