DELPHOS —A driver hit a car stopped at a stop light at 3:56 p.m. Thursday.

Nicholas Mericle of Delphos was traveling on Elida Road towards Fifth Street when he struck a vehicle, driven by Joseph Wilson of Delphos, stopped at a stop light.

Wilson was driving an SUV that had a trailer attached to its back. It had minor damage.

Mericle’s vehicle received minor damage to its front.

DELPHOS — A driver hit another car as she was backing out of a parking space around 4:05 p.m. Saturday.

Sarah Gilbert, 31, of Delphos was backing out of a parking spot in the Speedway parking lot when she failed to stop as Kellie Runyan, 23, of Delphos entered the parking lot behind her.

Runyan’s car had moderate damage to its left side. Gilbert’s van had light damage to the back of the left side.

At 1:34 a.m. April 6, officers responded to the area of 835 Skinner St. after receiving two separate complaints of a suspicious vehicle that was parked in that area. Upon arrival, officers located the vehicle, which was parked and running. Officers made contact with the occupant, 40-year-old Jason Osting of Venedocia. During the investigation, officers found probable cause to arrest Osting for physical control of a motor vehicle while being intoxicated. Officers also determined that Osting had driven the vehicle from Venedocia to Delphos with a juvenile passenger in the vehicle. Due to this, Osting will also face a charge of endangering children. He will appear in Van Wert Municipal Court to face the charges.

On Tuesday, officers were dispatched to the 100 block of East Fifth Street in reference to a vehicle with damage. Upon arrival, officers met with the victim, who stated that she parked her vehicle and upon returning to it later, found a large object on the trunk. The object caused dents and scratches to the vehicle. No citations were issued.

 
Driver hits garage when brakes fail PDF Print

DELPHOS — A driver backed into a garage and said the brakes had failed on her vehicle.

At 8:15 a.m. March 27, Susan Houseworth, 44, of Delphos was backing out of her driveway when the brakes failed and the vehicle continued to travel until striking the neighbor’s garage.

No one was injured and the vehicle had light damage.
