The Delphos Police Department would like to inform local businesses that multiple reports have been taken in regards to counterfeit $20 bills being circulated in the area. These bills have been discovered after the sale was made and the customer left. Employees should be vigilant in checking the bills before the transaction is completed.

On Aug. 16, the Delphos Police Department was contacted in regards to a theft incident at a business in the 200 block of North Canal Street. Officers spoke with the victim and found that a male was inside the business and left, taking a wire welder with him. The theft was caught on the store surveillance camera and officers have a suspect in mind. His name is being withheld pending the filing of formal charges.

On Aug. 16, officers responded to a complaint in the 300 block of South Franklin Street. A female there stated she has been receiving unwanted text messages from a male she knows. She is also receiving messages through other forms of social media from this same male. These messages are threatening and vulgar in nature. This incident will be reviewed for possible charges.

On Aug. 17, a male called the Delphos Police Department to report a theft of his debit/ATM card. The male contacted his bank to cancel the card, after finding it missing, and found that a charge had been made on the card after it was stolen. This incident is under further investigation.

On Sunday, a Delphos Police Officer on patrol observed a vehicle being operated with an equipment violation. The officer conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, 41-year-old Mitchell Brown III of Lima. While speaking with Brown, the officer found probable cause to arrest him for operating the vehicle while impaired. Brown was charged with OVI, possession of marijuana and the equipment violation. He will appear in Lima Municipal Court to face the charge.

On Aug. 1, a Delphos Police officer on patrol observed a suspicious male walking in Waterworks Park.

The officer made contact with the male identified as 25-year-old Dean Gomez of Defiance. During the contact, officers found him to be in possession of marijuana.

A Van Wert man reported a domestic incident that occurred in the 1500 block of Venedocia.

08-03 10:48 p.m.

A complainant in the 20000 block of Carpenter Road, Middle Point, reported someone banging on their back door.

08-04 6:26 p.m.

A Middle Point woman in the 9700 block of Middle Point Road reported an incident of domestic violence. No charges were filed.

08-05 5:36 p.m.

Officers responded to a call of an injured deer along State Route 118.

08-04 7:39 p.m.

Four Ohio City juveniles were warned about criminal trespassing after being seen on private property.

08-04 4:30 p.m.

Police responded to a complaint of menacing with regard to an illegal manufacturing of drug and cultivation of marijuana. An officer investigated the complaint in the 300 block of West Carmean Street, Ohio City. Nothing was found and no charges were filed.
