Looser/HommelJerry and Mary Looser of Delphos announce the engagement of their daughter, Elizabeth, to Mitchell Hommel, son of Rex and Danette Hommel of Kenton.

The couple will exchange vows on July 27 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.

The bride-elect is a graduate of Jefferson High School and attended Rhodes State College.

Her fiance is a graduate of Kenton High School and attended The Ohio State University.

Mr. and Mrs. Bill MeyersBill and Angela Meyers of Ottawa will celebrate 60 years of marriage on Oct. 3.

To celebrate, a 10 a.m. Thanksgiving Mass will be held at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa, and an open house will be held from 1-5 p.m. at the Ottawa VFW, both on July 28.

Bill and the former Angela Wrasman were united in marriage on Oct. 3, 1953, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Landeck, the Rev. Robert Knoepfle officiating.

They are the parents of Larry (Caroline) Meyers of Marysville, Tina (Steve) German of Loveland, Monica (Mark) Hemingway of Columbia Falls, Mon., Carol Meyers of Van Wert, Nancy Hovest of Pandora, Rose (Hal) Mandly of Harwinton, Conn., and Lisa (Tom) Tijerina of Las Cruces, N.M. They also have 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Bill retired after 20 years at Excelle. In January 1997, he retired from Ford Motor Co. Engine Plant after 24 1/2 years.

Angela retired from Philips in Ottawa in 1991.

The couple will exchange vows on July 27 at Trinity United Methodist Church.

The bride elect is a 2007 graduate of Jefferson High School and a 2013 graduate of James A. Rhodes State College, with a physical therapist assistant major.

Her fiance is a 2007 graduate of Jefferson High School and a 2012 graduate of The Ohio State University, where he majored in chemical engineering.

Mr. and Mrs. Elmer FortenerMr. and Mrs. R. Elmer Fortener recently celebrated 60 years of marriage with a surprise party given by their children June 30.

Elmer and the former Rosemary Hesseling were united in marriage June 27, 1953, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, with Bishop Albert Ottenweller officiating.

They are the parents of Rick (Marla) Fortener, Bobby Fortener (deceased), Barbara Smith, Bonnie (Bill) Mullenhour and Connie (Dennis) Klausing.

They also have 12 grandchildren, one of whom is deceased; eight great-grandchildren, one of whom is deceased; and one stepgreat-grandchild.

Elmer is retired from Shawnee Distributors. Rosemary is retired from Orbitron.

Simms/SmithDave and Cheryl Simms of St. Marys announce the engagement of their daughter, Kristina Ann, to Christopher Michael Smith, son of Sue Smith of Delphos and Michael Smith of Lima.

The couple will exchange vows Aug. 24 at Hillsdale Baptist Church, St. Marys.

The bride-elect is a 2001 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School and 2008 graduate of the Apollo Career Center EMT-B program. She is currently enrolled at Sinclair Community College for business administration and management. She was a past president of the Logan County Genealogy Society and past trustee of the Ohio Genealogy Society.

Her fiance is a 1996 graduate of St. John’s High School and a 2013 graduate of the Apollo Career Center welding program. He is a construction worker at Schmitt Construction.
