Bulmahn/ElwerMark and Connie Bulmahn of Decatur, Indiana, announce the engagement of their daughter, Karmen Nicole, to Travis Michael Elwer, son of Chuck and Carrie Elwer of Delphos.

The couple will exchange vows on Aug. 9 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Decatur.

The bride-elect is a 2013 graduate of International Business College with an associate’s degree in accounting.

Her fiance is attending the University of Northwestern Ohio for an associate’s in agribusiness. He is the grounds supervisor at Central Insurance in Van Wert.

The bride is the daughter of Norman and Sondra Heidelbaugh of Spencerville. She is a graduate of Spencerville High School and attending the University of Northwestern Ohio. She is employed by Charles River.

The groom is the son of Brian and Peggy Shirk of Lima. He is a graduate of Elida High School and employed at Best One.

Grandparents of the couple include Mary Bowersock of Wapakoneta and the late Marvin Bowersock, the late Albert and Dorothy Heidelbaugh, Don and Joyce Shirk of Belle Center and Laverne and June McClure of Kenton.

The couple will exchange vows on July 5 at So Serene in Wapakoneta.

Mr. and Mrs. Miles HefnerMr. and Mrs. Miles Hefner will observe 70 years of marriage on July 8. Miles and the former Betty Painter were united in marriage on July 8, 1944, in Lexington, Kentucky.

To celebrate, an open house will be held from 1-5 p.m. July 5 at American Township Hall, 102 Pioneer Road, Elida. No gifts, please.

Their children include James Hefner of Oro Valley, Arizona, Cathy Root of Lima and the late John Hefner.

They also have five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Miles served as an aircraft welder in World War II. He went on to work for Tilton Corporation for 50 years, retiring as company president in 1989. Betty was a homemaker.

To celebrate, a party will be held at 2 p.m. June 28 at the home of their son, Steve Liebrecht, in Adrian, Michigan.

Jerry and the former Anne Banks were married by Father McCardle on Dec. 27, 1954, in Evanston, Illinois.

They are the parents of Steve (Kris) Liebrecht of Adrian; Cathe (Pierre) Petuya of Sacramento, California; Jeanne (Ray) Entz of Spokane, Washington, Pam (Brent) Bott of Sandwich, Illinois, and James (Jenny) Liebrecht of Lebanon, Indiana.

They also have 25 grandchildren, Aubrey, Grayling and Jerome Love; Rebekka, Matthew, Rachel, Amanda, Timothy, Elizabeth, Hannah and Joshua Liebrecht; Derek and Justin Entz; Craig, Colleen, Aaron, Elyse, Evan, Lauren, Catherine and Megan Bott; and Molly, Alana, Neili and Kennon Liebrecht. They also have six great-grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Liebrecht 1964. Jerry retired from the Michigan Department of Social Services. Anne is a homemaker.

The couple will exchange vows on Oct. 4 at St. Joan of Arc in Toledo.

The bride-elect is a graduate of Anthony Wayne High School and Bowling Green State University, with a master’s degree from the University of Toledo. She is employed as an art teacher at Community Middle School in Princeton, Indiana.

Her fiance is a graduate of St. John’s High School and Ivy Tech Community College in Evansville, Indiana. He is employed at Kohl’s in Evansville.
