ST. MARYS — Tarzans swinging past plain Janes on their way to the top of the concrete jungle may soon be dangling by a thread in Ohio. Jane’s got ammo. Jane Hight McMurry is helping level the playing field with “Navigating the Lipstick Jungle: Go from Plain Jane to Getting What You Want, Need, and Deserve!” — a 21st century women’s safari style program based on the new business book that blazes a path through the bramble filled corporate maze showing women what they need beyond education and technical skills so they can get what they want, need, and deserve in business and in life.
McMurry will speak at the Women’s Power Conference & Awards Luncheon on Nov. 8 at Romer’s Catering & Entertainment Facilities in Celina. Tickets are $45. To register call 419-733-5692 or visit www.auglaizemercerwomeninbusiness.com.
McMurry, a women’s success expert, is working to change the statistic that shows that despite equal education, technical skills, and laws to ensure equal rights and opportunity, women workers, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, as a whole earn 77 cents for every dollar men earn for jobs that are equal.
“Unaware women making up these statistics are like dynamite,” according to McMurry. “Their power is within but nothing happens until their fuse is lit.”
Unfortunately, the fuse remains unlit for most women. Wageindicator.org reported a direct correlation between age and the gender pay gap. The older the worker the wider the wage gap between men and women. It found that women over 50 earn 73 percent of what men their age earn. McMurry lights the fuse and fills the gap in a woman’s arsenal making her aware of what she needs beyond education and technical skills so she can get what she wants, needs, and deserves in the corporate jungle.
McMurry teaches women how to recognize and create business opportunities and what to say and do to be recognized as competent professionals. She even provides them with phrases to say to get the salaries they deserve.
