DELPHOS — Jefferson senior Whitney Hohlbein is the 2012 Canal Days Queen. Hohlbein was crowned by 2011 Canal Days Queen Chelsea Wellmann Sunday evening during the annual pageant. Hohlbein will reign over the upcoming festivities that begin Thursday with the annual Toast to the City at 6 p.m. Hohlbein is excited to receive the honor and looking forward to her duties. “I wanted to make new friends and expand the relationship between the contestants from each school and I think that happened,” Hohlbein said this morning. “I can’t wait to be a bigger part of the Canal Days activities.” The daughter of Darrin and Tracy Hohlbein hopes to encourage more girls to participate in the pageant in the future and also to help more in their community. “This was a great experience and a great way to earn a scholarship,” she said. “I hope to compete in more pageants.” Other winners included first runner-up Jefferson senior Corinne Metzger; second runner-up Jefferson senior Destiny Thompson; third runner-up St. John’s senior Jessica Recker; and fourth runner-up/Miss Congeniality St. John’s senior Allie Youngpeter.
