Ronald D. Mericle, 77, of Lima, died at 3:41 a.m. Thursday at The Ohio State University Medical Center.
He was born June 24, 1935, in Delphos, to Gilbert and Evelyn (Schwinnen) Mericle, who preceded him in death.
On Oct. 4, 1975, he married Elizabeth “Betty” Hogan, who survives in Delphos.
Survivors also include daughters Rhonda (Bob) Vondran of Van Wert and Susan (Dan) Parsons of Delphos; son Mark (Julia) Mericle of Fort Jennings; grandchildren Ashley (Shane) Harter, Abbey (Shay) Harter, Brock Parsons, Hunter Mericle and Paige Mericle; great-grandchildren Zoe, Zane, Zaria, Jace and Trace, with another on the way; brother Jerry (Nancy) Mericle of Delphos; and sister-in-law Mary (Don) Schierholt of Indian Lake, brother-in-law William Hogan and sister-in-law Jo Ann Hogan of Lima.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Neal and Roger Mericle.
Mr. Mericle was a graduate of Jefferson High School. He worked at Superior Coach for more than 20 years and at Buckeye Resurfacing. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and golfing, but especially bowling. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 471, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 54 and Trinity United Methodist Church in Delphos.
Services will begin at 4 p.m. Sunday at Chiles-Laman Funeral and Cremation Services’ Shawnee Chapel, the Rev. David Howell officiating. Burial of the cremated remains will be at a later date in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Saturday at and 2-4 p.m. Sunday the funeral home.
