DEAR EDITOR: On the evening of June 7, it was my privilege to serve as one of 12 honor guards standing watch on 20-minute shifts during the visitation of James E. Suever. Jim was a member of the Delphos VFW Color Guard. He was also a combat veteran of the Vietnam War. What most people don’t know is that Jim was a hero. He was awarded the Bronze Star for Valor while serving in Vietnam. I once asked him what he did to receive the award but he just said, “It wasn’t anything.” That’s the way Jim was. He didn’t want to talk about it. I just thought Delphos should know and be proud of the ones who served their country, not just in Vietnam, but in all wars.
