DEAR EDITOR: I had an ah-ha moment as I watched the Delphos K-Kids decorate the post office several weeks ago for Veteran’s Day. Sponsored by Kiwanis, who’s mission it is to serve children, the K-Kids are the best example yet of Kiwanis’ commitment to our community’s children. My first real experience with Kiwanis International was in college when I joined the Circle K club at my university. I learned so much from the road trips (no GPS then), service projects in downtown Columbus and networking and public speaking when I took on leadership roles in the club. Key Club (high school level), Builders Club (middle school level) and Circle K are all sponsored by local Kiwanis Clubs who are made up of men and women with a commitment to service and children. I realized that with everything the Delphos Kiwanis club does for the children of our community including scholarships, new playgrounds and coat/toy drives the most important thing they are doing is fostering and sharing an attitude of service with our young people through K-Kids. Keep up the great work! Lynn Bockey, Delphos To read the rest of this article please subscribe or sign in |
