INFORMATION SUBMITTED

VAN WERT — It is June and Old Fashioned Farmers Mule, Donkey and Mini Horse show is fast approaching. Mark July 5 on the calendar as activities begin at 10 a.m. at the Van Wert County Fairgrounds. The show is also open to mini horses this year. Anyone can enter (young and old), get a pet from the field and place him in the show. Entry fee is only $2 per class.

There will be a few halter and driving classes for mule, donkey and mini horse, but the fun begins with a Dinner Bell Race. Bring your mammas and babies for a race that is more fun than the Kentucky Derby, it will probably last longer. Also the costume class is back. In the past there have been animals dressed as clowns, ladies in beautiful dresses and many more. There will also be the coon jump and a chicken race.

During the show there will be a silent auction, the articles for sale are not just for the mule, donkey or mini horse owner but the public. The money generated from this auction goes toward the 2015 show. Contributions are welcome on morning of the auction.

A tent will be set up for shade but participants will need to bring their own lawn chairs. Bleachers and picnic tables are available. After a fun-filled day with mules, donkeys and mini horses, visit the other activities on the grounds and get a head start on fair food for the year.

Go to oldfashionedfarmers.com for more information on the activities during the four-day show, July 3-6.
