KOSSUTH — James W. “Jim” Robey, 60, of Kossuth died at 3:45 p.m. Monday in the St. Rita’s Medical Center with his family at his side, following a 10-year battle with cancer.
He was born Aug. 28, 1953, in Van Wert to John F. and Juanita I. (Miller) Robey, Jr. His father survives in Van Wert and his mother preceded him in death.
On Dec. 8, 1974, he married Rebecca L. “Becky” Carnes, who survives along with two children, Jay W. Robey and Lisa Ann Robey, both of Kossuth; his mother-in-law, Beulah M. Carnes of Kossuth; six siblings, Susan Tidwell of Spencerville, Mark (Sharon) Robey of Spencerville, Ernest Robey of Lima, Tamara (James) Sanders of Delphos, Martha “Martie” Robey and Charles Mowery, both of Spencerville.
He was also preceded in death by his stepmother, Eileen E. Robey; his stepfather, Frank Mowery; and his father-in-law, Ralph H. Carnes.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday in the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville, with Pastor Mark Fuerstenau officiating. Burial will follow in the Kossuth Cemetery with military rites by the Spencerville Veterans.
Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. today and after 9:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
