William F. “Bill” Clark, 86, passed away at his residence at 10:40 p.m. Sunday.

Bill was born Dec. 19, 1927, in Lima to Dr. Daniel J. and Lillian C. Holdgreve Clark, who preceded him in death.

On Aug. 21, 1954, he married Maureen Ann Mulcahy, who preceded him in death on Dec. 28, 2011.

He is survived by a son, Tom (Jane) Clark of Lima; three daughters, Laura (Mark) Foust of Lima, Cindy Gaberdiel of Lima and Lisa (Todd) Bresson of Lima; 12 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; brother, Ted (Sandy) Clark of Dayton; and a sister, Mary O’Neil of Dunbridge.

He was preceded in death by a great-grandson; five brothers, Ed, Jim, Bob, Dan and John Clark; and a sister, Ann Clark.

Bill was a 1945 graduate of Delphos St. John’s High School and a graduate of the University of Dayton with a Master’s Degree. In 1997, after 35 years, he retired as a teacher at Lima Central Catholic High School, where he was a coach for two years and athletic director for 27 years. In 2006, Mr. Clark was inducted into the Lima Central Catholic Hall of Fame for service to LCC.

He had also taught and coached at Ohio City, St. Edward’s in Cleveland and St. Peter and Paul in Ottawa. At Sts. Peter and Paul, his 1957 basketball team made it to the regional semi-finals, which was a first in school history

Bill was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church. Other memberships included the Knights of Columbus, Ohio State Teachers Association, Lima Central Catholic Athletic Boosters and the Allen County Horseshoe Association.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon Friday at St. Rose Catholic Church with Father John Stites and Father David Ross officiating. Burial will be in Gethsemani Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Thursday at Chiles-Laman Funeral and Cremation Services, Shawnee Chapel.
