DELPHOS — A year of accomplishments marked the third annual Delphos Museum of Postal History Gala Sunday evening.

Museum Founder and Director Gary Levitt announced the year’s endeavors will now allow the museum to rent the second floor for functions as a new fundraising opportunity.

“We finished the bathrooms and there is a utility sink so we’re ready to go. Our yearly budget starts out at zero and goes from there, so this is exciting news,” Levitt began. “We can now use the facility as a banquet hall. This is your facility - this belongs to Delphos.”

Levitt also announced the new pavers to be added in the entrance of the museum. Carl Core of Aero Printing accepted his paver. Core has been instrumental since the museum’s inception 18 years ago in providing for its printing needs.

“When I arrived in Delphos on March 6, 1993, I didn’t have any business cards noting I was the Delphos Postmaster, so the first place I stopped was Aero Printing,” Levitt said. “I’ve been using Carl ever since and he does a lot for the museum for a little price.”

Museum Board President David Howell also received a paver along with the late Meg Ausman, former historian and librarian for the US Postal Service Headquarters in Washington, D.C., and personal friend of Levitt.

“Dave has a vision — he sees things the way they could be,” Levitt said. “Meg was a dear friend and she helped me secure a lot of the items in the museum during its infancy.”

The Delphos FFA was also recognized for volunteerism a the museum.

“The FFA is a dedicated to serving this community and has always provided young workers for us,” Levitt said. “This is the third year they have helped with the gala and they’ve spent countless hours in the museum.”

Levitt and his wife Fran were surprised with flowers and champagne from the museum board in honor of their 40th wedding anniversary.

The evening closed with door prizes and a 50-50 raffle.
