DELPHOS — It was one of those nights for the Perry boys cagers as Bruce Hodges was “en fuego” Saturday night at “The Stage”, firing in 40 counters to pace the Commodores to a 78-55 non-league triumph.

The Commodores (2-1) shot 30-of-60 from the floor led by Hodges, who added nine boards and seven steals. He got plenty of help from Jared Poling with 21 markers (4 assists, 4 steals) and 10 by Emanuel Luster (9 rebounds).

The Wildcats (2-2) — who canned 17-of-36 fielders for 47.2 percent — had their own big scorer as sophomore Trey Smith netted 29 counters (3 bombs; 6 caroms) and senior Ross Thompson had another double-double with 13 points and 12 boards.

Both teams return to the hardwood Friday: Jefferson at Columbus Grove and Perry at Riverside.

(Longer story and box score in Monday’s paper).
