FINDLAY — St. John’s spotted Tiffin Calvert 10 points in the first 15-plus minutes of their Region 26 semifinal at Findlay’s Donnell Stadium Saturday night.

The rally made up for it and then some, with the Blue Jays rattling off 42 straight points in a 42-10 dismantling.

St. John’s (8-4) will play Arlington 7 p.m. next Saturday at a site to be determined.

The main culprit for the Senecas (7-5) was Blue Jay senior tailback, who accounted for all six touchdowns en route to rushing for 199 yards on 23 carries: a 2-yard run with 4:39 left in the second period to reduce the deficit to 10-7 (Ben Wrasman point-after); a 6-yard burst with 2:08 showing in the period for a 14-7 edge; an 84-yard return on the second-half kickoff for a 21-10 spread; a 2-yard burst at 8:12 of the third period for a 28-10 lead; a 36-yarder with 9:58 left for a 25-point lead; and an 8-yarder with 4:13 to go.

The Senecas got the lead on an 80-yard run by Austin Ball (20 rushes, 156 yards) just 12 ticks into the contest (Michael Smith kick) and a 38-yard Smith field goal at 8:57 of the second stanza.
