LIMA — Experts involved in local, state and federal efforts to fight environmental crimes will share their knowledge with law enforcement, public officials, community leaders and public defenders at a free workshop sponsored by Keep Ohio Beautiful (KOB), a state affiliate of Keep America Beautiful (KAB). Local KAB affiliate, Keep Allen County Beautiful, joins its national and state partners to support the training workshop.
“Keep Allen County Beautiful realizes that strong local environmental partnerships are critically important to the Lima/Allen County community. It takes many partners working together year in and year out to raise awareness about the importance of environmental stewardship,” said Ben Richard, president of Keep Allen County Beautiful. “Developing a strong environmental enforcement presence is an important aspect of that community partnership. The Environmental Law Enforcement Training Workshop being presented in Allen County by Keep Ohio Beautiful is a key step toward expanding and strengthening those critical partnerships as we work together toward building a strong community coalition focused on protecting Allen County’s environment.”
Attendees will learn about enforcing laws governing:
— Environmental laws
— Meth lab training
— Scrap metal
— How to form local environmental coalitions
—Community-policing best-management practices
The workshop will be held from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday at the Allen County Sanitary Engineering Department Training Room, 3230 N. Cole St., Lima.
Funding for the workshop is provided by the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency.
