ELIDA — A deep Coldwater girls soccer squad wore down an undermanned Jefferson unit 5-0 in Division III sectional action under the lights Saturday night at the Elida Soccer Complex.

The Lady Cavaliers (7-9) went up 1-0 in the first half as Haley Kahlig tallied at 20:09 against freshman keeper Makaya Dunning (8 saves vs. 13 shots on-goal — subbing for injured junior Kayleigh O’Connor.

They scored four times in the second half: at 35:33, by Holly Rindler; at 21:45, by Lexi Meyer; at 14:18, again by Rindler; and just three ticks before the horn by Kylie Post.

Coldwater keepers Alanna Severt (2 saves vs. 2 shots) and Brittany Muhlenkamp (2 saves, 2 shots) combined for the shutout.

Jefferson ends its season at 6-9-2.

Coldwater advances to play second-seeded St. John’s at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
