VAN WERT — Karri Purdy (20:51) led the Spencerville girls cross country team at the Northwest Conference Championships held on a picture-perfect Saturday morning at the Van Wert County Reservoir.

She came in first and the team also claimed first (38 points) among the five full teams, beating Bluffton (51), Columbus Grove (58).Crestview (87) and Lincolnview (115).

Megan Langhals was the top finisher for the Lady Bulldogs with a fifth-place ending (22:45).

Brooke Ripley was 10th to pace the Lady Knights.

Anna Gorman was tops for the Lady Lancers with a third-place finish (21:57).

On the boys side, Lincolnview was first (36), barely edging Columbus Grove (39), Crestview (53), Paulding (130), Spencerville (153), Bluffton (164), Allen East (183) and Ada (210).

Mycah Grandstaff (Crestview; 16:36) barely edged Colton Grothaus (Columbus Grove; 16:36) for the top spot, while Lancer Bayley Tow (16:44) was third.

The best male Bearcat was Thad Ringwald in 19th (18:36).

All four teams are in the Ottawa District Saturday.
