The following individuals appeared before Judge Charles Steele in Van Wert County Common Pleas Court:
Change of plea
Justin Diltz, 59, Delphos, changed his plea to guilty to two counts of trafficking heroin, each a felony of the fourth degree and each containing a specification that he used a 1999 Oldsmobile 98 in the commission of the crime. Five other similar counts were dismissed for his plea. The court ordered a pre-sentence investigation and set sentencing for Nov 20.
Treatment in lieu violation
Zachary Brooks, 20, Van Wert, admitted to violating his Treatment in Lieu program by testing positive for marijuana and by failing to report to probation. The Court continued the matter to a later date and released him on a surety bond.
Austin Coyne, 20, Convoy, was sentenced on a charge of attempted breaking and entering, a misdemeanor of the first degree. He was sentenced to one year of community control, 60 days jail with credit for 50 served, substance abuse assessment and treatment, ordered to pay restitution of $1,000 to Robert Klinger, plus court costs and also ordered to pay partial appointed counsel fees. A $1,000 fine and a 180-day jail term were deferred pending completion of community control.
Stephanie Semer, 26, Van Wert, was sentenced for attempted burglary, a felony of the fourth degree. Her sentence was: three years community control, 30 days jail, 100 hours community service, substance abuse assessment and treatment and two years intensive probation. She was given credit for restitution paid before court, ordered to pay court costs and partial appointed attorney fees. A nine-month prison term was deferred pending completion of community control.
