Rev. Reinhart had his first day on the job at here on July 8 and he is also serving at St. John the Baptist Parish in Landeck.
Reinhart was born and raised in Bucyrus and graduated from The Ohio State University, where he studied architecture and then worked in an architecture office in Columbus for some time.
He entered seminary at St. Meinrad Seminary in Indiana and was ordained as a priest in 1998.
Since then, Reinhart has served at parishes and Catholic schools all over Northwest Ohio.
For the past four years, Reinhart served as a military chaplain in the U.S. Air Force. He traveled to South Dakota, England and Afghanistan to provide religious services to members of the military and their families. As a chaplain, Reinhart said he provided counseling, military services and officiated burial services for those in the military.
Bishop Leonard Blair asked Reinhart to come to Delphos in April and Reinhart said “of course.” After his release from active duty in the U.S. Air Force, he made his way to Delphos.
“I look forward to being in an area similar to where I grew up,” Reinhart said. “I’m just a farm boy, so this is what I’m familiar with.”
He is also excited to work in the school and said he believes in Catholic schools.
“I’m looking forward to getting to know the people and praying with them,” Reinhart said. “I’m just ready to continue to grow spiritually.”
The Delphos Knights of Columbus hosted a meet and greet Sunday for Reinhart for members of the church and community to get to know the new pastor.
During the meet and greet, Tom Odenweller presented a check to St. John’s Principal Adam Lee for $10,500 from the 25th annual K of C/St. John’s Golf Outing. The golf outing is hosted to benefit St. John’s school and has raised about $10,000 each year for the school, Odenweller said.
