She was born July 3, 1926, in Ottoville to Theodore and Bernadine (Hellman) Beining, who preceded her in death.
On July 2, 1949, she was united in marriage to Herbert Hempfling, who survives in Delphos.
Other survivors include a son, Jack (Sandy) Hempfling of Le Roy, N.Y.; two daughters, Judy Hempfling of Yellow Springs and Mary Lou (Keith) Pohlman of Delphos; two sisters, Alice Arnzen of Delphos and Irene (Joe) Schroeder of Ottawa; a brother, Ray Beining of Delphos; a daughter-in-law, Agnes Hempfling; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Terry Hempfling; three sisters, Mildred Beckman, Angela Kimmet and Gertrude Schmitz; and a brother, Rudy Beining.
Mrs. Hempfling worked at Meyers Cleaners and then at Drapery Stitch.
She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church and the CD of A. and also volunteered at the nursing home, St. Rita’s and the Thrift Shop. She enjoyed sewing, playing cards and gardening. She loved spending time with her family.
Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John’s Catholic Church, Father Dave Reinhart officiating. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Harter and Schier Funeral Home, where a CD of A service begins at 7 p.m. followed by a parish wake at 7:30 p.m.
