On June 10-11, Jefferson and St. John’s wrestling teams co-hosted a Premier Wrestling camp which featured the top college wrestler in the country and one of the top college coaches. Logan Stieber, a sophomore at Ohio State, is a two-time National Champion, a four-time Ohio High School State champion and a three-time junior high state champion. Ohio State head coach Tom Ryan was the 2011 national coach of the year and has turned Ohio State’s wrestling program around. “These two are two of the best camp instructors one can get in Ohio. Successful is an understatement; the record for the Premier Camp is 81 wrestlers at Cincinnati Moeller, while we had 72 competitors in Delphos,” St. John’s coach Derek Sterling explained. “When Mike Wilson took over as head coach at Jefferson, we started talking about how we could make both programs in Delphos better. All of our little wrestlers are in the same Tri-County program, which is very successful, so we thought it would be a great idea to combine the two schools and work together to put on a camp that would benefit both programs. We had 72 wrestlers from all over Ohio and a couple from Indiana that attended. With the turnout and the success from this year’s camp, we will be looking to grow bigger next season.” (Above) Sterling, left, and Wilson, right, pose with Stieber.
