|Veterans to place flags at cemetery|
|Thursday, May 16, 2013 12:05 AM|
The Delphos Veterans Council will place flags on area cemeteries on Saturday in preparation for the Memorial Day Holiday. The following Saturday is planned in case of rain.
Veterans or anyone wishing to help are asked to meet between 8:45 a.m.-9 a.m. at VFW Post 3035 in the west parking lot. The group will leave shortly after 9 a.m.
If any family member finds a fellow deceased veteran’s plot does not have a flag marker and/or a flag has been missed, please notify the VFW. They are placing close to 1,600 flags this year and don’t want to leave any veteran without the honor he or she deserves. To let us know of the missed plot, call 419-692-8816.
When calling about a missed flag or flag holder, please include:
• Cemetery: St. John’s, Resurrection, West Side, Walnut Grove, Landeck, Harshong, Pike Mennonite, Donors, Carmean or King;
• Where served: WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan or State Side (no foreign service); and
• Approximate location.
