“They kicked our tail from start to finish. We know they we’re a very physical basketball team and they just did whatever they wanted to do,” Jefferson coach Marc Smith asserted. “They just physically kicked our tail; we had no answer. Defensively, it was like going through water. We couldn’t get stops and offensively, we were settling for long jump shots. They were just bigger, stronger and more physical than us tonight. We had no answer and they had us shoved 35 feet away from the basket, which is where we had to run our offense all night.”

The loss drops Jefferson to 3-13, 1-5 NWC. They host Allen East Friday.

“I thought we played really well defensively. I wanted us to come out and put together a good defensive effort; that was the big thing,” said Bearcat coach Kevin Sensabaugh. “That’s one place where we haven’t played great all year long; we have played OK at times. We have had some dips and I wanted to put together a long period of good defense. I thought our guys came out with some great energy and put on good ball pressure. I believe that was the key.”

The win improves the Bearcats to 8-6 and 5-1 in the NWC. The host St. Marys Memorial tonight.
