Ottoville School Board soft on speed limit support letter

OTTOVILLE —A letter in support of the efforts of a local developer to have the speed limit reduced in front of Ottoville Schools may be drafted but if Wednesday’s response from school board members is any indication of the outcome of a vote at the next meeting, the proposal will have to move forward without the board’s support.

John Schimmoeller and Greg Bockrath, a civil engineer with Bockrath and Associates — working on Schimmoeller’s behalf — approached the school board for the third time Wednesday to garner the letter in support of reducing the speed limit in front of the school to 35 mph with the exception of during school hours (7 a.m. to 4 p.m.), when it would be 20 mph.

The speed limit in that area is currently 55 mph except during school hours.
