Lancers score early and often in rout of Ada

ADA — A 4-pitch walk to Lincolnview lead-off hitter Chayten Overholt wasn’t the way Ada starting pitcher Conner Frazier wanted to begin his day.

Three errors, four more walks and a 2-run home run later, Frazier’s day was done before he could escape the second inning.

The visiting Lancers rolled to a 22-1 5-inning Northwest Conference win.

After two errors helped the Lancers score three times in the first, Gavin Cater singled home Overholt in the second before Jaden Youtsey reached on a 2-out error to prolong the inning. Ethan Kemler then turned on a 1-0 offering and pounded a ball over the right field fence for a 7-0 advantage, ending Frazier’s day on the hill.

Things didn’t get better for the Bulldogs, as two relievers combined to allow 12 runs on 10 hits and nine walks in only 3 1/3 innings.

Carter got the win on the mound for the Lancers, and pitched brilliantly. He held Ada to three hits over four shutout innings, walking only one against eight strikeouts. Nick Motycka worked the fifth allowing one run on one hit.

Carter went 3-for-5 at the dish and scored five runs. He and Sam Myers each drove in a team-high three runs. Overholt tripled in his 1-for-4 day, but walked twice and scored four times. He also knocked in a pair. Reece Farmer went 1-for-2, a double, with two runs scored and two RBIs. Motycka went 1-for-2 at the plate with two runs scored.

The Lancers stole nine bags against Ada without being caught.
