DELPHOS — Maynard L. Shobe, 79, of Delphos passed away on Friday at Van Wert Inpatient Care Center.

He was born Nov. 30, 1938, to Warren and Carol Mae (Prine) Shobe, who both preceded him in death. On June 18, 1960, he was united in marriage to Carol (Buzard), who survives in Delphos. They were married 57 years.

Maynard is also survived by four children, Terri (Arnie) Coil, Jeff Shobe, Sherry (Joe) Warnecke and Mike (Jill) Shobe, all of Delphos; 11 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; three brothers, Chet (Glenda) Shobe of Ada, Tom (Sharon) Shobe of Spencerville and Bill (Betty) Shobe of Delphos; and two sisters, Sandy (Jim) Hirn of Spencerville and Pam (Mike) Carder of Delphos.

He was also preceded in death by a great-grandson, Anthony Duane Herron; and a great-niece, Alivia Lucas.

Maynard retired from Dana after 30 years of service. He was also in the National Guard for six years. He was a member of the Delphos Eagles Aerie 471 and the UAW of Lima Local 1765.

He loved watching his grandchildren play sports. He enjoyed camping and taking long walks around Delphos. Maynard also loved his dog, Tiny.

Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday at Harter and Schier Funeral Home, Pastor Tom Shobe will officiate. Military Rites will be performed by the Delphos Veterans’ Council. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Lima.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday and one hour before the funeral service Monday at the funeral home.
