DELPHOS — On Jan. 26, an officer on patrol conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle after observing the driver commit a traffic offense. Officers made contact with the driver, 36-year-old Michelle Elrod of Lima, and found that she was operating the vehicle while under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. Elrod was issued a citation for an OVI and will appear in Lima Municipal Court to face the charge.

On Sunday, officers took a report from a male and female that were bitten by a dog. The complainants told officers that a young female was walking a dog that was not under control. The dog got away from the child and bit both the male and female. Contact was made with the dog’s owner and information was exchanged for possible civil action.

On Sunday, a male came to the police department to report a theft incident. The male told officers he had a female visitor in his residence for a short time. After the female left, the complainant noticed items missing from his residence. A description was obtained of the items and the incident remains under investigation.

On Sunday, officers were notified that a male was enroute to the police department to turn himself in on a warrant out of Van Wert County. The male, 31-year-old William Estle, arrived and was taken into custody. He was later turned over to a deputy from the Van Wert County Sheriff’s Office.

On Monday, a female came to the police department to report an identity theft incident. The female told officers that she received a letter from a collection agency stating that she owed a large amount of money for an account that was opened in her name. The female had no previous knowledge that a cell phone account was opened in her name and had no knowledge of who opened it. The incident remains under investigation.

On Monday, an officer on patrol conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle after observing it being operated on an expired registration. Officers made contact with the driver, 33-year-Edwin Diaz of Hicksville, and found that he was operating the vehicle on a suspended driver’s license. Diaz was issued a citation for expired registration and a license forfeiture suspension. He will appear in Lima Municipal Court.

On Monday, officers were dispatched to a single vehicle traffic crash on North Main Street near Fifth Street. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the driver, 20-year-old Luis Pedroza of Delphos, and found that he was operating the vehicle while under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. Pedroza was issued a citation for OVI and failure to maintain control. He will appear in Lima Municipal Court to face the charges.

On Wednesday, an officer on patrol conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle after observing it being operated on a fictitious license plate. Officers made contact with the driver, 55-year-old Sara Campbell of Van Wert, and found that she was operating the vehicle on a suspended driver’s license. The vehicle was impounded and Campbell was issued a citation for a non-compliance suspension and fictitious license plates. She will appear in Lima Municipal Court.
