DELPHOS — On Nov. 22, officers were dispatched to the 500 block of North Canal Street after the resident reported a break in. Upon arrival, the resident told officers he had left the residence for a short time and upon returning, found that someone had caused damage inside the home. The resident stated that the damage could have come from another resident but he was unsure. There was no sign of forced entry.

On Nov. 23, officers were dispatched to the 300 block of North Jefferson Street to speak with a female in reference to threats she had received. Officers arrived and spoke with the female, who stated that her estranged husband was texting her threatening messages. The female requested a report but did not wish to pursue charges.

On Nov. 23, officers were called to a residence in the 400 block of West Sixth Street in reference to a domestic violence complaint. Upon arrival, officers spoke with a male and female at the residence. After speaking with both parties, officers found probable cause to arrest the male, 39-year-old Robert Shaeffer Sr. of Delphos. Shaeffer reportedly threatened the female at the residence with a firearm during an argument while he was intoxicated. Shaeffer was charged with domestic violence and using weapons while intoxicated. He was transported to the Van Wert County Jail and will appear in Van Wert Municipal Court to face the charges.

On Nov. 23, officers were sent to a residence in the 500 block of West Sixth Street to investigate a domestic violence incident. Upon arrival, officers met with a male and female. Both were reluctant to cooperate and each had a different account of the incident. Neither party wished to pursue charges.

On Nov. 24, officers responded to the 700 block of Harmon Street after receiving a complaint of a male at the residence threatening to harm himself. Officers arrived and located the male. After speaking with the male he did agree to be transported to the hospital for evaluation and treatment.

On Nov. 25, an officer on patrol conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle after witnessing the driver commit a traffic offense. Officers made contact with the driver and passengers in the vehicle. During the traffic stop, officers found marijuana and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle. The driver and a passenger in the vehicle, both juveniles, were charged with possession of those items and will appear in Allen County Juvenile Court to face the charges.

On Sunday, an officer on patrol conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle after observing it being operated with an equipment violation. During the traffic stop, officers found a passenger in the vehicle to be in possession of marijuana and hashish. The passenger, 26-year-old Roger Queen II of Delphos was charged with the items and will appear in Van Wert Municipal Court.

On Sunday, officers were sent to the 500 block of North Canal Street to investigate an assault complaint. Upon arrival, officers spoke with a victim and witnesses and were told that a household member was intoxicated and had become angry and physically violent. Officers were unable to speak with the suspect as she had left prior to their arrival. A short time later, officers observed the suspect operating her vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. After speaking with the female, 55-year-old Diana Hickman of Delphos, officers found probable cause to arrest her for OVI, license forfeiture suspension and assault. Hickman was transported to the Van Wert County Jail and will appear in Van Wert municipal court to face the charges.

On Tuesday, officers were dispatched to the 300 block of South Main Street in reference to a domestic dispute. Officers found that during a child custody exchange, a male and female got into a verbal dispute. During the altercation, the male damaged his vehicle while attempting to leave the property. Neither party wished to pursue charges.

On Tuesday, officers met with a male at a business on Elida Avenue. The male told officers that he posted an item for sale on Craigslist and a person contacted him wanting to purchase it. The two agreed to meet at the business on Elida Avenue. Once the two met, a transaction was completed and the item was sold. After the female left with the item, the complainant looked at the two, $100 bills and immediately saw that they were counterfeit. The incident remains under investigation.

On Wednesday, officers met with a female at the police department. The female told officers that she and her daughter were contacted by a male whom they have a protection order against. Officers collected the information and contact was made with the Van Wert County Municipal Court Prosecutor for review of possible charges.

On Wednesday, officers were dispatched to the 600 block of North Main Street to meet with a female. Once officers met with the female, she explained that she recently broke up with her boyfriend and was now afraid of physical harm. She told officers that he displayed threatening behavior towards her on the previous night. The female sought a temporary protection order and it was granted by the Allen County Common Pleas Court.

On Wednesday, officers responded to the 200 block of Holland Avenue. after receiving a complaint of a female threatening to harm herself. Once on scene officers located the female who voluntarily agreed to be transported to the hospital for mental evaluation.

On Thursday, officers met with a female at her residence in the 700 block of West Clime Street. The female told officers that while she was away someone gained entry into her residence and stole an item. There was no forced entry found at the residence. The incident remains under investigation.
