DELPHOS — Black ice is being blamed for an accident at Fifth and Main streets reported at 3:08 p.m. on Tuesday.

According to police reports, a vehicle driven southbound on North Main Street by William R. White, 62, of Delphos had just entered the intersection at Fifth Street when a vehicle driven westbound on Fifth Street by Timothy L. Odom, 44, of Delphos failed to stop at the red light, striking the White vehicle in the front driver’s side corner.

Odom told the responding officer his tires hit black ice near the intersection where he had tried to stop and he slid into the intersection.

White was taken to St. Rita’s Medical Center by Delphos Fire and Rescue.

Odom was cited for failure to stop at a traffic light.
